The Story Behind My Ocean Inspired Jewellery Collection
The ocean has always felt full of small sculptures. Shells, seaweed, coral-like textures, seahorses and marine fragments all carry forms that seem almost designed for jewellery.
My Oceanic Collection is inspired by the South Australian coastline and celebrates the extraordinary structures found beneath the sea. Each piece begins with a real marine specimen, carefully cast into sterling silver to preserve the textures and details created by nature.
Why the ocean inspires my jewellery
I am drawn to the way ocean forms can be both delicate and strange. Seaweed can look like lace. Shells can feel architectural. Seahorses and leafy seadragons carry a quiet otherworldliness. These forms sit beautifully within jewellery because they already have movement, rhythm and texture.
The Oceanic Collection includes seaweed jewellery, seahorse jewellery, Leafy Seadragon designs, pearl jewellery and coastal-inspired sterling silver pieces handcrafted in Adelaide.
Casting marine forms into silver
Casting allows me to preserve the details of natural specimens in metal. A fragile shell or seaweed form can become something lasting, wearable and tactile. Once cast, each piece is refined by hand so the original texture remains visible while the jewellery is comfortable and durable enough to wear.
This process keeps the finished piece connected to the natural world. It is not simply jewellery shaped like the ocean. It is jewellery that carries the memory of a real marine form.
Pearls and ocean symbolism
Freshwater pearls appear throughout the Oceanic Collection. Their softness complements the organic shapes of shells, seaweed and marine life. Pearls also bring a sense of stillness and balance to the work, especially when paired with more textured or unusual forms.
In these pieces, the pearl is not just decoration. It becomes part of the story: water, growth, patience, softness and depth.
Jewellery for ocean lovers
Ocean inspired jewellery is especially meaningful for people who feel connected to the sea. It may remind someone of a coastline, a childhood memory, a beach walk, a marine creature or the quiet pull of being near water.
For me, the Oceanic Collection is about preserving fleeting coastal forms and transforming them into lasting objects.

FAQ
Q1: What do crab earrings symbolise?
A: Crabs are often associated with protection, resilience and adaptability. In these earrings, the crab form also reflects a direct connection to the South Australian shoreline and the small natural details found along the coast.
Q2: Will the freshwater pearls look exactly the same as the photo?
A: Freshwater pearls are natural materials, so each pearl may vary slightly in shape, surface and lustre. These subtle differences are part of the character of handmade jewellery made with natural materials.
Q3: How do I clean the Crab with Pearl Drop Hook Earrings?
A: Avoid perfumes, lotions and harsh chemicals, and gently polish the sterling silver with a soft jewellery cloth. Because these earrings include freshwater pearls, do not place the pearls in silver dip. A silver dip may be used occasionally on the sterling silver crab forms only, following the product instructions carefully before rinsing and drying completely.

FAQ
Q1: Is the Small Seahorse Pendant made from a real seahorse?

Q2: How do I clean the Small Seahorse Pendant ?
A: Avoid perfumes, lotions and harsh chemicals, and gently polish the sterling silver with a soft jewellery cloth. A: Yes. Each piece is packaged in an Olivia Dryden Jewellery branded velvet pouch and is suited to ocean lovers, nature collectors and those who appreciate handmade jewellery with story, detail and meaning.
